German early auctions postponed by two weeks - EEX
London, 10 October (Argus) — Germany's European Energy Exchange (EEX) postponed the launch of German phase 3 early auctions by two weeks, the exchange announced today.
The first early auction of EU emissions trading scheme (ETS) allowances for phase 3 (2013-20) will be held on 26 October, instead of the originally planned date of 12 October.
“The reason is that potential bidders — who have to prove their eligibility to bid in these auctions — will need more time to fulfil the requirements according to EU rules, namely the auctioning regulation,” EEX said.
Allowance auctions after 26 October will take place every Friday from 9-11am CET, with an auction volume of 3mn allowances per date. The last auction on 14 December will have a volume of approximately 2.5mn allowances.
Spot market auctions of the German share of EU aviation allowances (EUAAs) is now set for 31 October, with a volume of 2.5mn EUAAs. This auction was initially planned for 17 October. The second German EUAA auction will occur on 14 November, as originally planned.
