Statoil in supply talks with potential UK buyers

London, 2 October (Argus) — Norway's Statoil is in talks with several parties that could lead to further supply deals, a senior vice-president at the firm said today.

Earlier this year, Statoil agreed to supply UK utility Centrica with 5bn m³/yr for 10 years. “We are prepared to do that again,” Statoil senior vice-president for natural gas Rune Bjornson said at a conference in London. “We are currently in discussions with several potential buyers in the UK,” he added.

The Centrica deal is due to run for 10 years from October 2015 and is at prices linked to the NBP market.
